Site security - can I see your ID?
Everyone has a responsibility to avoid allowing unauthorised access and tailgating into our buildings and sites. We all have a right to feel safe at work, including in our offices. It is important that we keep our buildings secure, to protect both ourselves and our data.
If you are visiting or working at a DCC site please make sure you have your smart card or ID badge with you at all times and remind yourself of our important safety measures while at work.
Remember to challenge anyone who tries to access the building without a DCC ID badge.
Please take the time to read our short guide about how you can help us to keep our sites and data safe.

Thank you to colleagues who took time out of their day to learn more about the benefits available to them and to engage in the available sessions. We now want to hear your views so that we can evaluate the event and use your feedback to inform future plans, online sessions and events elsewhere around the county. Colleagues told us:
“Shaun Tetley’s Pension talk was excellent. It was just brilliant to hear from someone who is also an LGPS member. It made it so engaging, easy to follow and understand (let’s be honest, pensions are complicated!).”
“The atmosphere was fun, friendly and inclusive. Thank you.”
“A few members of my team took the opportunity to come into County Hall and engage with events, so it was a useful work ‘cross-over’ day for us.”
“Was a great event, got a lot out of it.”

LGBTQ+ Adoption and Fostering Week 2024 returns on Monday 4 March to Sunday 10 March 2024 and remains the only adoption and fostering campaign to focus on on members of the LGBTQ+ community.
This year's theme, ‘Different Together’, calls on more LGBTQ+ people from the global majority to consider adoption and fostering, while also encouraging more people from the LGBTQ+ community to consider both routes to forming their families.
Looked after children from minoritised ethnic groups can wait the longest for suitable adoption and fostering placements. Our social workers often struggle to match these children with adoptive parents and foster carers with similar heritage.

We’re inviting families, professionals and community organisations to help shape services that support young families.
We are changing the way that young families are supported at Children’s Centres, and we are inviting those who use the services, as well as professionals and community groups, to help influence the changes.
It follows a national move, announced by the Government last year, for Children’s Centres to become Family Hubs, as part of its Start for Life Programme initiative.
In Devon that means extending the age range, from current services that deliver targeted support to 0 to 8 year-olds, to future services that provide targeted and universal support to 0 to 19 year-olds, or up to 25 year-old young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. And it would mean a wider range of services than present, including support from local community groups, working together to help young families.
We commission the charity, Action for Children, to run Children’s Centres in Devon on our behalf. Action for Children is already working with Plymouth and Torbay councils to help their transition from Children’s Centres to become Family Hubs, and now they’re working with us to do the same across the rest of Devon.
