Centre news for February

After saying a fond farewell to our mobile library assistant, Tracy, in January we are currently recruiting for a new Centre assistant - look out for a new face soon!

We are busy working on Spring Exchanges so don't forget to send in wishlists/requests.

Remember, we are also a bookshop and offer a generous discount (all books come with plastic jackets, stationery and free delivery). Just send us your requirements and we will provide a quote.

Each month the advisory team collate lists for KS1, KS2 and Teens on topical themes.

With Valentine's Day approaching, this month we focused on the ups and downs of relationships and romance, finding your identity and accepting others for who they are.

There's still time to enter our World Book Day 'book face' competition, deadline for entries is 23 February 2024.

Our advisers have devised a new quiz for World Book Day, which you can download and use in your school.

Library network meeting dates for Spring term - still time to sign up!

Our library network meetings are free of charge!!. They are led by the SLS advisory team and are a source of up-to-date information, the sharing of ideas and good practice.

Secondary

Tuesday 12 March at Great Torrington School
Wednesday 16 March at Exeter School

Focus: Carnegie shadowing tips and ideas, and other awards.

All meetings begin at 1.30pm, book your place now.

Accelerated Reader information day

Do you already use Accelerated Reader or are you considering it?

There will be an information day on 19 March 2024 at the centre here at Willand, in partnership with Margaret Allen from Renaissance Learning. For current users there will be an opportunity to ask questions or raise concerns and for non users a chance to find out more.

More information with times of the workshops will be emailed out soon.

Save the date - English conference

This year's English conference is being held on 12 November and will focus on securing ethnically diverse texts within your school.

The School Library Service will be there, so please come and see us.
