We are absolutely delighted to confirm that Mary Myatt will be headlining our Summer Leadership Briefing on 28th June at Winslade Manor.
We feel especially privileged as Mary is currently prioritising her research and so therefore is not speaking at as many events as she has previously but was keen to come back and share with Devon school leaders aspects of her most recent work.
In her presentation, entitled “Curriculum Thinking - What’s good for pupils with SEND is good for all”, Mary will be discussing the following:
- An ambitious curriculum for all
- What do pupils say?
- What does the EIF say?
- Best bets from the research to help pupils learn
- Insights from SEND Huh

Mary's visit to Devon is very timely as it coincides with the launch of her new book, SEND Huh, written with John Tomsett.
The book discusses provision for pupils with additional needs with some of the leading experts in the field and focuses on how practitioners design the curriculum for the young people in their schools.
As an increasingly challenging issue for schools, we hope that Mary’s contribution will help and inspire you, as a school leader, in the development of the SEND curriculum in your setting.

 We will also be welcoming Donna Manson, Chief Executive, DCC, with an overview of her first few months in post and her plans for the future. Following on from her introductory meetings for School Leaders on 17th March, Donna will be giving a further update on DCC leadership appointments and other developments since taking up her post in Devon.
