 DSLS Working Group Representatives
To ensure that the voice of schools is heard, Devon school leaders attend numerous statutory boards and working groups across the county.
Each year, representation on these groups is reviewed and the following representatives were agreed for 2022-23: DSLS Working Group Representatives
Additionally, the Schools Executive Committee (SEC) (DSLS SEC Membership 2022-23) acts as a conduit for two-way communication to regularly update schools with key messages and on work being undertaken at local authority groups. See the updates from the various autumn term meetings below.

Professional Supervision: Extended Offer to Middle Leaders Fully Funded by DfE
The DFE has extended the contract with Education Support for a year and doubled the scope of the service to now include headteachers, deputy headteachers, assistant headteachers, MAT CEOs and MAT Deputy CEOs based in state funded primary or secondary schools.
Applicants will receive six one-to-one sessions by Zoom or telephone, which are free and completely confidential. To find out more and to apply, click here

 Consultation: Devon Term Dates 2024/25 and 2025/26
Local authorities have a duty to determine the school term dates for community and voluntary controlled schools in their area and recommend these dates for adoption by governors of foundation, voluntary aided, foundation trust, academies and free schools. It is hoped that for consistency across Devon that all schools will adopt the recommended term dates.
Please click below for the proposed term dates for 2024/25 and 2025/26. Devon County Council is now consulting with schools, representatives from union associations and its neighbouring authorities.  Andrew Tate Related Prevent Referrals

The Prevent team in CTPSW have been inundated with referrals in the last fortnight. Some of these relate to concerns regarding young people influenced by Andrew Tate. Read more
 Tony McArdle, DfE's chief safety valve negotiator and SEND expert
The man who holds the purse strings to stop councils going bankrupt - if they comply with strict cost-cutting of services for pupils with special needs. McArdle leads the DfE’s “safety valve” negotiations, which are now helping 45 councils to get their SEND deficits back on track, including five planned for next year. Read more

 Changes to the ‘Spotty Book’
The Spotty Book provided information on infectious diseases and their control. It also included advice on routine childhood immunisations, isolation periods, guidelines on food hygiene and when to notify Public Health.
It has been replaced by : Health protection in children and young people settings, including education – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
