South West Care Home Network event from SWAHSN
1 December 10am-12.30pm
This South West Academic Health Science Network (SWAHSN) event will provide a platform for learning and sharing ideas for improving the range of services that care homes provide. We aim to bring together care home managers, staff, leaders, CCGs, local authorities and experts from across the sector to look at improvements, examples of good practice and interventions that will support and develop care homes. This event will focus on work taking place in the South West (Devon, Cornwall and Somerset).
The South West Care Home Network will be hosting events four times a year, focusing on the improvement and safety outcomes of work in care homes by promoting collaboration, co-production of new procedures in high-quality care in managing deterioration and medicine safety in line with the National Patient Safety Programme.

COVID-19 booster rollout - can providers please help?
Thanks to those who responded to our vaccination survey, we received some great responses and are now able to offer outreach vaccination visits to larger or groups of smaller providers – together with vaccine confidence support.
If you are interested in taking part and think this would help support your business and protecting your staff and the people they support please get in touch.
Vaccination uptake for frontline workers remains lower than we would like and we need your help.
The Oliver McGowan LD and Autism Mandatory Training
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism has been co-produced, trialled, independently evaluated and will be co-delivered by trainers with lived experience of learning disability and autism.
In July the Health and Care Act 2022 introduced a requirement that regulated service providers ensure their staff receive training on learning disability and autism which is appropriate to the person’s role.
