Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) and Airband are committed to delivering full fibre broadband to hard-to-reach locations in the region and it doesn’t come much more challenging than the stunningly rugged coastline at Hartland Quay.
Airband has been extending its rollout from Hartland to Hartland Quay, on behalf of CDS, and the rollout has been welcomed by businesses, including the popular Hartland Quay Hotel.
Watch our video to see some of the work Airband has undertaken to bring full fibre connectivity to Hartland Quay.
Mobile phone signal has been the only thing that hasn’t been perfect for Nathan and Lizzie Figg since they moved to Nethway Farm in South Devon three years ago.
The holiday cottage business at Kingswear, near Dartmouth, is located in a valley that makes their mobile signal hit and miss.
However, they are now among 900 homes and businesses across Devon and Somerset to have improved 4G mobile signal in their property thanks to the Mobile Boost scheme.
In our short video, Nathan tells us about the difference it's made to their business.
A further 1,110 homes and businesses in South Somerset will be provided with ultrafast broadband access thanks to extra funding secured by Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) as part of its rollout being delivered by Wessex Internet.
The additional properties will be added to around 3,600 homes and businesses that Wessex Internet is already covering as part of its three-year contract awarded by CDS in 2020 – bringing the total to over 4,700.
Wessex Internet will now extend the network to connect even more rural communities, including surrounding areas of Isle Abbotts, Bower Hinton, Yeabridge, South Petherton and Tintinhull.
Another 2,500 homes and businesses across Devon and Somerset are now able to access full fibre broadband thanks to Airband's ongoing rollout in the region through the CDS programme.
Access to the live network is now available in the Cheddon Fitzpaine area of Taunton in Somerset, as well as premises in some areas of Exminster, Kenn, Kennford, Kenton, Powderham, Starcross, Teignmouth and Tiverton.
Openreach is making good progress with providing Full Fibre broadband connectivity to thousands of people as part of its latest collaboration with Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS).
More than 2,000 premises in some of the hardest to reach rural areas in the region will receive ultrafast broadband coverage through Openreach’s ongoing Full Fibre rollout for CDS.
Over 400 premises are currently ready for service in several communities, including parts of the parish of Bickleigh and Wotter, Combeinteignhead, parts of Dulverton, and Lane End near Peter Tavy.
