Take care and help reduce risk of spreading bird flu
Bird flu, or avian influenza to give its correct name, is primarily a disease of birds and we are aware of some cases currently in Devon.
The risk to public health is very low as it is not an airborne disease. However, it is really important that you do not touch or pick up any dead or visibly sick birds that you find, and keep dogs away from them too. Full guidance is available on the government website.
If you find dead wild waterfowl (swans, geese or ducks) or other dead wild birds, such as gulls or birds of prey, you should report them to the Defra helpline on 03459 33 55 77.

Most of the fire stations in Devon and Somerset are crewed by on-call firefighters. On-call firefighters do the same emergency work as wholetime firefighters, but they can also have other jobs too.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service (DSFRS) urgently need to recruit more on-call firefighters in certain places across Devon and Somerset as they sometimes do not have enough to crew a fire engine in a particular town.
They want to better understand people's perceptions of the on-call fire-fighter role to inform their recruitment campaign so they are running a quick survey.

The One Devon Bulletin showcases teams who are working in an integrated and collaborative way to deliver high quality services.
The 'Team of the month’ is NHS Devon’s health inequalities team while Chime, a social enterprise providing NHS audiology services, is the ‘voluntary sector focus’.
