Devon Work Hubs offering free one-day trial to celebrate National Coworking Day
To mark National Coworking Day next month, 14 of Devon’s Work Hubs will be offering a free one-day trial to new clients.
The work hubs participating in the event are offering people the opportunity to work from their local hub, with the majority of them providing free work spaces on Monday 6 June and Tavistock Enterprise Hub on Thursday 9 June.
As spaces are limited, to help Hub operators to plan and to avoid disappointment, people are being asked to email their chosen Work Hub in advance in order to book a space.
For more information, including a list of participating Work Hubs, please visit the Devon Work Hubs website.
Funding boost to support people into skilled jobs
Along with Cornwall Council, we have been awarded £1.8 million from the Department for Education's National Skills Fund, to run a third year of Skills Bootcamps.
These are flexible courses lasting up to 16 weeks that offer adults the opportunity to retrain into in-demand job roles in emerging and growth sectors. That's training in a range of digital and technical skills, including cyber, IT, web development, data science, welding and engineering.
The bootcamps are designed alongside employers, to ensure people are developing industry skills that meet current recruitment needs. And learners are guaranteed an interview at the end of their training.
Bootcamps are free of charge and will run from July 2022 until March 2023, and learners will be supported to secure employment after their training has completed. They're open to people who want to advance their skills into higher paid employment, and anyone unemployed, self-employed, or returning to work.
You can read more about it on the news page of our website.

New study reveals floating offshore wind benefits for the South West
A new report, commissioned by Heart of the South West LEP and co-funded by us with North Devon Council and Torridge District Council, reveals how the opportunities from developing Floating Offshore Wind (FLOW) in the Celtic Sea can be maximised.
The research, carried out by Regen, assessed the economic opportunities FLOW presents for Devon and Somerset, as well as the wider UK. The report highlights how the Heart of the South West can play a key role in the government’s target of meeting 60 per cent of the offshore wind supply chain from within the UK by 2030, drawing on its considerable strengths.
The report also reveals that FLOW in the Celtic Sea represents a significant long-term opportunity for the region, because the skills needed in the supply chain are transferable between marine engineering and offshore renewable energy sector applications.
You can find the the full report on the Heart of the South West LEP website.
