The Department of Health and Social Care and UK Health Security Agency have published the annual flu letter describing the national flu immunisation programme and outlines which groups are eligible for flu vaccination.

- pregnant women
- those aged 65 years and over
- those in long-stay residential care homes
- carers
- close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
- frontline staff employed by the following types of social care providers without employer led occupational health schemes:
- a registered residential care or nursing home
- registered domiciliary care provider
- a voluntary managed hospice provider
- Direct Payment (personal budgets) or Personal Health Budgets, such as Personal Assistants
Cohorts that were eligible in the 2021 to 2022 season but are not included in the cohorts for 2022 to 2023 are:
- those aged 50 to 64 years
- secondary school children in Years 7 to 11 (between 11 and 15 years of age on 31 August 2022)

Work experience opportunities
Dartmoor Academy Trust, which is made up of Okehampton, Tavistock and Holsworthy colleges are looking for work placement opportunities in July.
The colleges have year 10 and year 12 students looking for work experience placements in social care. The colleges have a work experience week in July and would like to explore opportunities in social care for their students. In Y10 they want students to engage with the world of work and a different professional environment to which they are accustomed to in school. By year 12 the students should be securing a placement that is directly linked to their ideas or plans about their future career.
If you are able to assist with offering placements, please contact the career leads below:
