From January 2020, all schools in the South-West region are now registered with their Regional Schools Buying Hub and are encouraged to access the various levels of support available, saving time and money.
The Hub is a free of charge service, funded by the DFE, which has already helped hundreds of schools save money on non-staff expenditure. The hubs offer:
- advice and guidance on buying
- support with complex contracts, in areas such as catering, cleaning, premises and technology services
- promotion of local collaboration, where there is an opportunity to reduce costs.

Covid 19 – Information for parents (Coronavirus)
DCC Public Health have put together a website aimed at residents which brings together all the relevant public links to information about Coronavirus. Devon schools are encouraged to direct their parent communities to this website in order to keep up to date with the latest information.

Guidance and information on the Menopause
DCC has developed some new guidance and information on the Menopause using sources from ACAS, UNISON and the NHS with the aim of promoting a greater understanding of the menopause and its symptoms. The guidance supports an environment in which employees can openly and comfortably hold conversations about the menopause.

Key stage 1 SATs replacement to be rolled out from September
From September all new primary school pupils will take the new reception baseline assessment (RBA) that will replace SATs in year 2.
New push to improve outcomes for vulnerable children
Dedicated support in schools for children who have experienced adversity and trauma.
Vulnerable children in every school across the country will benefit from a dedicated school leader to ensure they attend and achieve, under new plans published by the DfE on 25 February 2020 - more information is on the DfE website.
Experts to help tackle poor behaviour in schools
Schools with poor discipline are to get expert help from those with exemplary behaviour practices to prevent disruption in the classroom. The behaviour hubs programme will enable schools with exemplary behaviour to work with other schools to improve their behaviour culture. Read more on GOV.UK

Statutory Guidance SEND Code of Practice: 0-25 years defines that the Local Offer has two key purposes:
- To provide clear, comprehensive, accessible and up-to-date information about the available provision and how to access it.
- To make provision more responsive to local needs and aspirations by directly involving disabled children and those with SEND and their parents, and disabled young people and those with SEND, and service providers in its development and review.
