Proud to Care update
The new Proud to Care Devon advertising campaign attracts people to care worker roles in domiciliary care and care homes. The campaign is targeted at people aged 20 – 39 across Devon and Torbay and focuses on telling the stories of real people who are receiving care and support, to attract people with the right values to the sector.
The campaign runs from 16 September 2019 until the end of December 2019 and includes TV advertising (Sky Adsmart, ITV hub and All4), on-line advertising, radio advertising on Heart FM and adverts on the backs of buses. The advertising directs job-seekers to the care worker vacancies on our Proud to Care jobs board, so please upload your vacancies now for free to benefit from the advertising.
The advert, which you’ll see on the backs of buses, features Laura, aged 89, who receives domiciliary care allowing her to live independently in her own home in East Devon.
Please show your support by liking and sharing the film clip and digital adverts on social media to help raise the profile of the care sector. @ProudtoCare #ajobworthdoing.
If you need any support with this please contact Tracy Grant on 01392 380499 or by email.

A working group of adult social care providers and DCC have developed a Care Induction Framework to support managers with care induction/care certificate training, to include links to free resources to support eLearning and face-to-face delivery. The Care Certificate Observation Record provides a template for managers to capture the practice of inductees via observation. Both documents can be modified to suit individual service needs. The next phase of this project is to develop a Nominated Care Certificate Assessor Training programme. If you would like to be involved in the co-production of this programme with other providers, please join us at our meeting on Thursday 10th October 2-4pm, Larkbeare House, Topsham Road, Exeter EX2 4NG. Email Terrie Chaplin to confirm your attendance or for more information.

Replacement Care New Arrangements
Replacement care provides an opportunity for carers of adults with a disability or long-term ill-health to take a break from caring responsibilities by providing care or support to people while their carers take a break. The County Council has been reviewing the way it arranges replacement care to promote a diverse range of replacement care services for people to choose from. As a result the County Council proposes to develop a list of providers incorporating all service types who are willing to offer replacement care and particularly replacement care bookable in advance. Any Service Provider, who delivers social care services under an existing contract with Devon Adult Social Care, will be invited to apply and that could include care and support in the person’s own home, day activities and overnight bed based services.
The person intending to use the service, their family carer and the appropriate County Council worker will select from the list the service that most appropriately meets their needs and circumstances subject to availability. All requests for replacement care will be made via providers on the Replacement Care Providers List. There will be an option for the person to ‘top up’ their personal budget if they wish to secure a particular provider of their choice.
There will be an initial application process to join the list launched in Winter 2019/2020. It will be an open list and providers can apply to join at any point after the launch date.
During the course of the autumn the County Council will be working with care providers through the PEN network to further refine these new arrangements.
If you want more information about Replacement Care please email Paul Collinge.
