f40 Briefing Paper

Read the new Briefing Paper agreed by f40’s Executive Committee and members. This paper describes f40’s views on the recently introduced National Funding Formula and highlights the group’s fundamental concerns about the NFF’s failure to adequately address the unfairness of funding allocations or remaining locked-in inequalities.

    Schools to provide (own admitting authorities) or confirm (DCC admissions) information by 8th August 2018.   Devon’s prospectus is split into two sections: The Step by Step Guide to Normal Round Admissions which provides information about the admissions process and School Information.

    ·         The Step by Step Guide is published in the primary and secondary school sections at https://new.devon.gov.uk/educationandfamilies/school-information/apply-for-a-school-place.

    ·         School Information is published at https://new.devon.gov.uk/schools/school/ for each state-funded school in Devon.

    This information will be refreshed for September 2018. All schools are requested to review their entry in the Schools Information pages and advise on any amendments that are required, such as: head teacher names, contact details, establishment status, oversubscription criteria, Published Admission Numbers and Numbers on Roll. Information will be amended and updated as necessary throughout the academic year as necessary.

    SEN Funding (Element 3) for EHCPs in Mainstream Schools

    Details regarding the new funding descriptors and calculator tool for allocating funding levels for all new EHCPs were sent to Headteachers via email on 15 June 2018 from Julia Foster, Senior Manager SEND.

    Champions for Change

    Devon’s children and young people’s participation group is called ‘Champions for Change’. We are a group of young people with special educational needs and disabilities who believe that voices should be heard, not ignored: Listen, hear and understand.
    We are working on a film project which we hope will help children and young people with special needs understand their rights to have a voice and to be heard.
