London trip

A big thank you to Proud to Care Ambassadors, Leanne Ashmead (Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust), Stephanie Johnson (Time 2 Care), Gill Smith (Age Concern) and Rosie Mainwaring (Skills for Care) for sharing Devon STP’s successful involvement in the national pilot for integrated health and social care ambassadors at Skills for Care’s office in London.  Representatives from several London boroughs attended and are interested in following in Devon’s footsteps.

The evaluation of the pilot showed that health and social care providers in Devon had improved their integrated working and increased the share of the audience interested in a career in the sector by 23%.  82% of ambassadors had increased their confidence and 68% felt more motivated in their work, as a result of being a Proud to Care Ambassador.  Audiences now had a better understanding of the different types of jobs and career pathways in health and social care.

We now have 132 Proud to Care Ambassadors from health and social care providers in Devon.  Please contact , if you want to nominate any colleagues to become an Ambassador and promote working in the health and social care sector at schools, colleges, universities, job centre and apprenticeship events.

 Development event on 30 April

33 new and existing Ambassadors attended an induction and development event on 30 April.  Speed dating to learn about each other’s roles in health and social care was the most popular item:

“Speed-dating was really interesting.  It was good to meet other health and care professionals in Devon.”

“Now I’m aware of the resources available that will be invaluable to use.”

“I’m feeling proud and inspired.”

“It has lifted my mood and reminded me why I’m in this job!”

What's going on with you?

Would you like to learn interviewing techniques that will help you uncover a candidates true potential?  This practical seminar will demonstrate what values-based recruitment is and give delegates the skills to conduct values-based interviews.

Delegates attending need to be responsible for interviewing staff and 2 staff must attend per organisation to be able to do the practical aspects of this session.
