Announcement: schools funding arrangements in 2018 to 2019
The Secretary of State for Education
has today set out the future arrangements for school funding.
In a speech to
Parliament, the Secretary of State confirmed the
introduction of a national funding formula for schools and for pupils with high
needs from the 2018 to 2019 financial year.
The government is also bringing forward
additional funding of £1.3 billion, on top of existing spending plans, in 2018
to 2019 and 2019 to 2020. As a result, core funding for schools and high needs

ESFA Fire Safety Survey
Following the horrific Grenfell Tower fire, the Government is
embarking on a data collection exercise and this includes buildings used for
publicly-funded education and training. The Education and Skills Funding Agency
have recently sent out letters requesting the completion of a survey in some
tight timescales.
The Local Authority is completing the survey for
Maintained schools, however Chief Executives of Academy Trusts and Chief
Executives of Diocesan Educational Trusts are likely to have received this
survey separately. We would encourage academies to complete the surveys should
they receive one in order for a more complete picture of the scale of the issue
to be developed.

Transition Guidance for Schools and
Education Settings
Record Keeping: Why is it important?
At times of transition it is an opportunity for careful
proactive planning and sharing of information which, if conducted sensitively
and with care, can ensure a successful transition at any stage. It provides a
consistent account of our involvement with children, young people and their
families.
Well-kept records should mean that schools, individuals and
families do not have to keep ‘telling their story’ and prevents the need for
settings having to ‘start again’. For more information please see the
Transition Guidance document as advertised on the DSCB website
or CLICK HERE
to download.
