Announcement: schools funding arrangements in 2018 to 2019
The Secretary of State for Education has today set out the future arrangements for school funding.
In a speech to Parliament, the Secretary of State confirmed the introduction of a national funding formula for schools and for pupils with high needs from the 2018 to 2019 financial year.
The government is also bringing forward additional funding of £1.3 billion, on top of existing spending plans, in 2018 to 2019 and 2019 to 2020. As a result, core funding for schools and high needs will rise from almost £41 billion in 2017 to 2018 to £42.4 billion in 2018 to 2019, and to £43.5 billion in 2019 to 2020 | READ MORE

DSCB Education Sub-Group meeting | July 2017
DAPH Representative David Barnett (Chudleigh CofE Community Primary School) attended the DSCB Education Sub-Group meeting on 3 July 2017:-
- Further Child Sexual Abuse information and training to be developed for all schools through the partnership as this now a priority area for Devon.
- Operation Encompass (information sharing about police involvement out of school hours before 9.00AM on next school day) to be rolled out for all schools in Devon with training in the Autumn Term. All schools must attend before being included in the programme, which is planned to go live on 01 Jan 2018.
- 2017 Safeguarding Audit will be completed using the Devon Smart online portal in response to previous issues with format and submission.
- All schools are expected to make a policy decision about attendance at CP case conferences in the holidays (KCSE). Max 15 days from initial request from social worker to hold meeting hence short notice in many instances. Understanding of difficulties from IRO unit but hopeful that schools will attend.
- Following the Serious Case Review in Hackney where a 4 year old died alone in his home 2 weeks after his mother has died suddenly, all schools are reminded of the duty to follow-up absence where there is not a known reason. Schools advised to contact their EWO if unsure of protocols.
