As previously advised, the Derbyshire County Council emergency closure notification service has now been discontinued. Please ensure parents and carers are aware of your school’s emergency closure procedures and methods of contact.
A revised Single Central Record guidance document is available for schools to access. A revised Recruitment and Selection Policy can now be downloaded by subscribers to the HR Advisory Service.

Applications for children to transfer from year 2 at infant schools to junior provision in September 2026 will open on 10 November 2025. Please see the information on SchoolsNet, regarding the publicity and the application process.
Information has been published regarding consultation on school admission arrangements for 2027 – 2028, which has now opened.
Guidance for the school workforce return, 6 November 2025, is now available on Services for Schools for academy schools that use the Arbor MIS. Please note you must be logged in to access this document. Derbyshire County Council continues to submit on behalf of LA Maintained schools.
Online safety 1-to-1 support for parents
Do you have concerns that a pupil may be at risk of radicalisation online? Do their parents require some 1-to-1 support in setting up parental controls and building digital resilience within the home? Derbyshire County Council Prevent Team is running a project to work with families of secondary school children, walking them through the practical ways of improving parental monitoring.
Places are limited, so please email Jamie.dean@derbyshire.gov.uk to discuss a potential referral.

An in-person session which covers an essential introductory guide to clerking.
18 November 2025 – 10am to midday – County Hall, Smedley Street, Matlock, Derbyshire, DE4 3AG
An online session, for those new to headship, with an inspection due or just wanting an understanding of the new inspection framework, principles and process. The session will focus on the new framework and its principles. Exploring the key areas, including safeguarding. Examining how the increased focus on inclusion will impact on practice.
