If you have a young person in your family who's about to get their A-Level or GCSE results, we can provide advice and guidance to support them and you with their next steps.
Thousands of students across Derbyshire are preparing to receive their A-level and GCSE results.
Post-16 results will be announced on Thursday 14 August and GCSE results a week later on Thursday 21 August.
Students have lots of choices for their next steps and we can help with free advice on a range of options for their futures whether their results are what they hoped for or not, whether it’s job hunting, apprenticeships, training or routes on to more education.
All are welcome to attend a service in Matlock to commemorate Victory over Japan (VJ) Day.
Derbyshire County Council Chairman Councillor Nick Adams is hosting the service of commemoration at Hall Leys Park in Matlock at 6pm on VJ Day – Friday 15 August.
He will be accompanied by our Armed Forces Champion Councillor Tony Wilson.
Victory over Japan Day marks the surrender of Japan’s forces, which in effect ended the Second World War.
As well as the county council service in Matlock, there will be commemorative events held across the country to mark VJ Day’s 80th anniversary. There will also be a national two-minute silence held at midday.
Please gather by the war memorial in the park at 5.45pm to attend the service at 6pm.

There’s still time to have your say on our proposals to reduce the number of councils in Derby and Derbyshire from 10 to two.
Government has asked councils in areas like Derbyshire where there are two layers of councils, known as ‘tiers’, to come up with proposals for simplifying the system, to provide better value for council tax-payers and create stronger communities.
Thanks to everyone who has given their views so far. More than 3,000 people who live or work in Derby and Derbyshire have already completed our questionnaire – but we’d like to hear from more of you.
It’s really important that local people get the chance to have their say and we’d especially like to hear from more people under the age of 35 to make sure their voices are heard.
You can find out more about the proposals on our website and share your views by completing our questionnaire.

Young people in Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire will receive targeted support into work, education and training thanks to a new pilot project.
We have successfully secured £127,000 from East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) to deliver a targeted Youth Guarantee Trailblazer project.
The Youth Guarantee Trailblazers scheme is a UK-wide project aimed at getting 18 to 21-year-olds into education, work and training.
We are working with young people to make sure that the project delivers the right support, in the right places to ensure maximum benefits.
Our scheme, called Unheard. Unseen. Unstoppable, will initially focus on Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire. If successful, the project could then roll out across Derbyshire.
If your business or organisation is interested in taking part in the project, then we would like to hear from you.
Whether you can offer mentoring, training, apprenticeships or paid employment please email: ASCH.Unstoppable@derbyshire.gov.uk or call 01629 537607.

Our exciting project to transform Staveley’s canal basin has taken another step forward with the completion of The Moorings —a two-storey waterside development.
The attractive building will offer a mixture of office, retail and leisure areas with scope for a restaurant overlooking the canal and will create between 40 and 60 new jobs.
And around the Moorings residents can enjoy more opportunities for walking, cycling and boating thanks to a new road and footpath.
The Moorings is being managed and funded by a partnership between us and the Staveley Town Deal, which is overseen by Chesterfield Borough Council. The Town Deal is providing £3.5m of the £4.5m cost of the project with the balance being met by the county council.
This building forms part of the wider Markham Vale programme of works, a flagship 85-hectare business park based on the site of the old Markham Colliery. The programme is a joint venture being delivered jointly with HBD focused on attracting and supporting businesses to thrive.

A crane sculpture will mark Derbyshire's twinning with Toyota City in Japan since 1998.
To help celebrate the partnership, everyone is invited to drop in to the Fleet Arts Co-Create Space at Belper Co-op in Strutt Street on Thursday 14 August between 1pm and 3pm to make some origami paper birds.
Toyota City Partnership Board has invited us to add them to a sculpture made of 1,000 cranes, which will be showcased at Melbourne Arts Festival on 20-21 September, to promote the international partnership between the two regions.
Participants at Fleet Arts can make one to take home, or many to add to the sculpture. Full instructions given and help will be on hand to assist with the making process. The event is free of charge for all.
The 1,000 Cranes Project, or senbazuru, is a Japanese tradition where folding a thousand origami cranes is said to grant a wish. This practice is deeply rooted in Japanese culture, where cranes are seen as symbols of longevity and good fortune.
Residents can find out about other creative and cultural projects by visiting Derbyshire Makes, our three-year programme of making-related events and activities across the county.
