New Council and Civic Chairman Councillor Nick Adams and his Vice Chair Councillor Jodie Brown have been announced.

New Council and Civic Chairman Nick Adams and Vice Chair Jodie Brown

Married with two young children, Councillor Adams is an organic beef and sheep farmer from Ashbourne. After finishing school in the town he was awarded a scholarship to study agriculture at university in Western Australia and he has worked and travelled extensively overseas.

He served for 10 years in the Staffordshire Regiment TA as an infantry section Commander and has a passion for food, farming and the countryside, as well as being a practical environmentalist.

He has chosen Derbyshire Rural Chaplaincy as his nominated charity for the year which he says reflects three things he cares deeply about; Derbyshire (his home) rural issues (food, farming and the countryside) and Chaplaincy (his Christian faith).

Councillor Jodie Brown is originally from Lincolnshire and now lives in Long Eaton. She has a long-standing career in education as a school psychologist specialising in behaviour for learning and has worked with the Ministry of Education overseas, living and working in five different countries.

Married and a parent, Councillor Brown has built and run businesses both in the UK and abroad.

Scam mail campaign

We’re calling on Derbyshire residents to help support the fight against scams by sending any scam letters you receive to a national team targeting the problem.

SCAM MAIL CRACKDOWN CAMPAIGN BACKED BY DERBYSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

Our Trading Standards officers are backing the campaign by Friends Against Scams to tackle the issue of scam mail and prevent people being conned.

Postal scams are letters sent with the goal of obtaining money using deception or fraud - and are often targeted at people aged 65 or over.

They’re often addressed personally and are typically:

  • lottery or prize draw scams
  • psychic scams
  • health cure scams
  • investment scams.

The SCAMnesty campaign aims to encourage you to talk to relatives about scam letters, look at examples, and to send in any unwanted scam and nuisance mail to National Trading Standards (NTS) Scams Team completely free of charge to:

Mail Marshals

That's the whole address and there's no need for a stamp.
