Foster and change a child’s life

We’re supporting Foster Care Fortnight and this year’s theme – The Power of Relationships – highlights the life-changing bonds created between foster carers, children and communities.

foster care fortnight 2025

Have you considered fostering? You don’t need any special qualifications and there are opportunities to suit all kinds of people and lifestyles from emergency respite care to long-term fostering.

You can find out more throughout the fortnight, which runs to Sunday 25 May, as the spotlight shines on inspiring stories from local carers and celebrations including a family picnic, talent show and other events to bring carers together.

We’re part of Foster for East Midlands Councils, a regional partnership of Derbyshire County Council, Derby City Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottingham City Council, working together to find loving family homes for the children in our care.

All our foster carers receive an allowance and a competitive package of support, benefits and training plus ongoing support.
