Your poll card will be delivered to you shortly, if you haven’t had it already. It’ll tell you which polling station you should go to. This is often a community hall or school near your home. You don’t need to take the card with you to vote.

What you will need is photo ID when you visit the polling station to cast your vote, so make sure you know where yours is and have it ready to go before election day.

If you need an emergency proxy vote, where you nominate someone to vote on your behalf, it can be granted in certain circumstances. You’d need to apply for this by contacting your district or borough council until 5pm on 1 May 2025 (polling day).

Finale of the Derbyshire Makes Festival

This weekend sees the finale of the Derbyshire Makes Festival – but remember this is only the beginning. There’s still plenty more creativity, crafting and artistry to come as part of the three-year Derbyshire Makes cultural programme.

Derbyshire Makes

On Saturday, 26 April and Sunday, 27 April, the festival moves to Swadlincote with a tempting lineup of events including pottery making, papercraft and banner workshops to a fungi-inspired animation session and virtual reality demo.  And they’re all free of charge.

For all the details of what’s happening and to book onto workshops visit Derbyshire Makes on Facebook or Instagram or check out the website.

This weekend’s finale follows successful events in Chesterfield, Heanor, Cromford, Glossop and Bolsover.

The next online session for Women who Make will take place on Wednesday, 30 April, noon to 1pm. Hear local artists in conversation at this free event as they explore our connections to nature, the powerful role art and culture play in deepening these relationships, and the unique contributions women make in the world of art, craft, and sustainability.
