DDSCP safeguarding children audit tool 2023/2024

All schools should have received the 2023/24 safeguarding audit tool by email, to be completed as soon as possible. If your school has not received a copy of the audit tool, please email DDSCP@derby.gov.uk


Senior Lead Mental Health Training

The Department for Education is offering a grant of £1,200 for eligible state-funded schools to train a senior mental health lead. The grant can also be used for supply cover should you need to backfill your mental health lead whilst undertaking training. Schools can now claim a 2nd grant if the trained lead has left the setting. Due to limited places, schools should apply as soon as possible.


Derbyshire’s Holiday Activity and Food Programme (HAF)

Advance information and guidance about the Winter Holiday Activity and Food Programme, including your school’s unique IAM code, has been sent via your Perspective Lite November General folder.


School contacts form update – Autumn 2023

The annual contacts review form and guidance will be uploaded to the Perspective Lite November General folder this week. Please review and complete by 30 November 2023.

Schools are reminded that the Schools HR Advisory Service offers Services for Schools subscribers further advice on ending fixed term contracts and the procedures to follow if a staffing restructure or even redundancies are required. Please see information about the relaunched Safe Place scheme which is now available to vulnerable young people from age 11. Email asch.safe.places@derbyshire.gov.uk with any queries.

Historic England Heritage Schools in-person CPD day

Tuesday 14 November in Buxton, 10am to 4pm.

£130 available to each school towards the cover costs of a teacher attending.


Creating LGBT+ Inclusive Spaces webinar

Wednesday 13 December, 3:45pm to 5pm via Microsoft Teams.

All school employees are invited to join the Pride Network for this online session to learn how to make workplaces and educational spaces LGBT+ inclusive. Register to book your place.

Key Stage One Phonics support programme

An intensive programme of support for Key Stage 1 phonics, for those schools facing the most significant barriers to ensuring that every child becomes a reader. Delivered from Autumn 2023 to Summer 2024.
