Scam letter warning

If you receive a letter offering compensation to you if you've been a victim of scams, please don't fill in any forms with your personal and financial information.

scam letter p1

Our trading standards team is warning you not to respond if you’ve had a letter with the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) logo – it’s a scam.

Derbyshire residents have been in touch about the nationwide scam, which often targets previous scam victims.

The bogus letter tells people to fill in a 'creditors debt form', as part of a compensation scheme, but it’s a way of fraudsters getting personal/bank details. If you receive one contact National Consumer Advice helpline on 0808 223 1133.

Recycle your electricals

jo kettle

Are you hoarding or throwing out your old or unwanted, small electricals rather than recycling them?

Well tomorrow is designated as International E-Waste Day (IEWD) and we’re all encouraged to recycle our electricals to help combat the UK’s fastest growing waste stream.

The event is championed by Material Focus  a not-for-profit organisation whose goal is to stop the nation throwing away or hoarding all their old small electricals with its UK-wide Recycle Your Electricals campaign. This inspiring campaign, funded by producers of electrical appliances, is making it easier for us all to recycle and reuse the small electricals we no longer need by funding more recycling points as well as providing practical information on how households can recycle.

Our household waste recycling centres want your electricals for recycling at any time of the year. Please remove any batteries – which can be a fire hazard – and put in the separate container provided.

Find your local household waste recycling centre here

You can also take part in our household waste recycling centre consultation here.
