More than 50 drain covers have been stolen from roads in Derbyshire in the last month, mainly in Breaston and Borrowash, but also other areas of South Derbyshire.

Each missing drain cover is dangerous for all road users, especially those on bikes or motorbikes. And each replacement costs in the region of £300.

To contact the police to report any information on the thefts:

You can also anonymously contact the independent charity CrimeStoppers, on phone them on 0800 555 111.

A6 walls repairs

Are you one of the 10,000 motorists who uses the A6 between Matlock and Whatstandwell every day?

A6 retaining wall

We're planning to repair a four-mile stretch of the 200-year-old retaining walls from early next year.

The walls play an important role in supporting the road along the banks of the River Derwent.

We successfully secured funding from the Government’s Levelling Up Local Highways Maintenance Challenge Fund to help pay for the repairs.

We are responsible for approximately 1,200 miles of retaining walls across Derbyshire.

Green light for road safety measures

Residents have approved our plans to improve road safety along the 7.5 mile stretch of the A5004 between Buxton and Whaley Bridge, and a nine-mile stretch of the A5012 between Cromford and Newhaven.

The findings follow public consultations on the schemes, which are likely to start next year.
