We want you to have your say about our services and let us know how satisfied you are with how we’re running the council and the decisions we’re taking.

The Your Council Your Voice 2023 short summer survey runs for three weeks, closing at midnight on Wednesday 16 August.

On completion you'll be asked if you want to enter a prize draw with the chance of winning a £100 gift card.

The short survey has only seven main questions and takes about five minutes to complete.

Questions include asking you if we provide value for money, how well we keep you informed and to what extent you can trust us.

Recycling centre changes?

recycling centre

We've approved plans to spend up to £200,000 to put automatic number plate recognition technology (ANPR) in place at each of our nine recycling centres.

We provide household waste recycling centres for Derbyshire residents only. Introducing ANPR will help to identify anyone from outside the county trying to use the sites.

We've also given the go-ahead to a public consultation to ask your views about:

  • supporting local businesses and sole traders by allowing them to dispose of commercial waste at a limited number of the recycling centres for a reasonable charge
  • reducing the number of hours or days the centres are open
  • charging residents to dispose of tyres and asbestos
  • adopting the government definition of DIY waste which can be disposed of at recycling centres for free.

£18m for the East Midlands

Millions of pounds in funding, made possible because of plans for devolution in the East Midlands, has been agreed and will be spent on improving housing, transport and the skills of local people.

In total, £18m of funding is being offered to Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Derby and Nottingham as part of early investment to the area during devolution negotiations and is not dependent on devolution proposals going ahead.

The latest funding amount of £9.9m has now been approved and will help councils to carry out retrofit work on homes to make them more energy efficient.

Along with Nottinghamshire County Council, Derby City Council and Nottingham City Council, we have been working with the government on devolution plans including a package of local powers and funding worth £1.14bn, from 2024.
