We'll be marking the occasion by flying the Coronation Flag at County Hall in Matlock over the long weekend.

And we're going to be lighting up the building red, white and blue each evening.

Free stalls at our Producers' Market

Are you a local food producer, farmer or artisan? Or do you like to buy locally made produce? We’re holding our first Producers’ Market at County Hall in Matlock on Wednesday 24 May to support Derbyshire’s farmers, producers and artisans across the county.

If your business is farming, or producing food and/or drink, and you want a FREE stall please get in touch by emailing cllr.administration@derbyshire.gov.uk

Or if you want to come along to browse and buy, that's also free, just drop in. You'll get free parking too.

We’re hoping to see a wide range of produce available for sale on the day, from meat, fruit and veg, bread, eggs and milk to honey, jams, cakes and chutneys. And let’s not forget juices, beers, ciders and wine.

The event will run from 10am – 2pm in the Members’ Room, County Hall, Matlock.

Are you a carer?

Do you care for someone who couldn’t cope without your help? If so, we have a range of carer support services to help you with your caring role

Million Trees map branches out

tree planting

Thanks to everyone who has added their trees to our online map as we work towards the target of planting a million trees across Derbyshire by 2030 to help boost the environment and tackle the effects of climate change.

More than 500 trees were recorded by people across the county in the first week of our map going live – taking the total number recorded to more than 67,000.

If you’ve planted a tree anywhere in Derbyshire since June 2021 and you haven’t yet recorded it, you can add it to our total. It’s quick and easy to do on our website.

We’re also calling on residents, landowners and volunteers to join forces to get more trees planted across the county – and we’re working on planting more on our own land too.

If you own land and are interested in planting more trees the county council is offering support and advice. And local businesses and organisations can also get involved by sponsoring or contributing trees, planting on their property, staff volunteering and events.

You can sign-up to receive the latest news about the project straight to your inbox.

Celebrating our employees

Last week, we held our first ever Our Derbyshire Awards event which recognised the hard work and dedication of our employees.

staff awards

Earlier this year, we gave employees, partners and members of the public an opportunity to nominate individuals or teams who go above and beyond to support local communities and each other. We received nearly 300 nominations which were then carefully assessed and shortlisted. Our finalists represented the breadth of services we provide including individuals from public health, social care, children’s services, public transport and administration.

The Our Derbyshire Awards event itself was held at County Hall where our winners were presented with their awards by some of our councillors, our senior leadership team and our sponsors.

A special thanks goes to our gold sponsors:

  • Penna
  • Oxygen Finance
  • SCC
  • Vertas
  • Deloitte
  • Concertus Design and Property Consultants
  • Holdsworth Foods.
