We're pressing ahead with devolution plans because it will bring in at least £1.14 billion to the region, benefitting you, your family and everyone else in Derbyshire and the East Midlands.
Devolution will promote economic growth, secure more investment in our area, provide more and better jobs, offer better transport, skills training, housing, and an enhanced green environment.
We made the decision on Wednesday, when we considered the results of a public consultation which showed substantial support for the proposals which would see the county council form a combined county authority with Derby City Council, Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.
If all four councils vote to move forward with the process, a final version of the devolution proposal could then be sent to the Government once the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill receives Royal Assent.
Our adult education service has just been rated as good, so, whether you've already taken adult education classes in Derbyshire or not, take a look at what we have to offer you.
DACES (Derbyshire Adult Community Education Service)Â supports more than 1,800 learners, including more than 100 young learners and 91 apprentices, to study qualification-based courses such as digital skills, English and maths, or undertaking an apprenticeship.
We also have vocational courses, e.g. crafts, languages, writing, exercise, cookery and more.
Ofsted inspectors reported that most of our learners and apprentices make good progress on their courses or apprenticeships and ‘feel safe and protected’. They highlighted that learners choose to study at DACES because ‘it feels like a community and staff treat them with respect’.

You'll no doubt be aware of Derby's proud history when it come to rail. This heritage is just one of the factors that's led the city to be named by the government as the home of Great British Railways.
The new public sector body will be responsible for running and transforming Britain’s railways. The aim of GBR is to create a simpler, better railway for everyone in Britain.Â
This means there will be new supply chain opportunities across the whole of Derbyshire, boosting employment and prosperity.
Derby's rich rail heritage and culture of innovation make it the ideal central location for GBR’s new headquarters.Â
The city is already at the forefront of the rail sector, employing thousands of workers, across Derby and Derbyshire. As the home of GBR, the future of the industry in the city and the county looks bright.
