Did you take part in the consultation on devolution for the East Midlands? The results have been published, showing substantial support for the plans.
Thousands of people took part in the consultation, which took place from November 2022 to January 2023. It was open to residents, businesses, community and voluntary groups, and other employers in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Derby, and Nottingham.
The consultation results showed broad support for the devolution proposals with the majority of respondents supporting plans for an East Midlands Combined County Authority. There is more information on our website.
There were 4,869 responses to the consultation overall, from members of the public and people answering on behalf of an organisation. The number of responses was higher than similar consultations on devolution in other areas.
If you're a carer you might like to know that there are monthly support groups held across the county and online.
The groups are a great opportunity for carers to meet other carers and get support and advice.
They’re hosted by Derbyshire Carers Association, which delivers a wide range of support services on our behalf.
You may have heard, in Wednesday's budget, that the government intends to give councils an extra £200 million to repair and maintain local roads.
We warmly welcome this new money and we expect to receive around £4.2 million in 2023/24 as part of our share.
Just last week, we revealed we had fixed 22,000 potholes since the start of the year.
To help achieve this significant repair milestone, our highways team has mobilised extra road worker repair gangs across the county, extended working hours to include weekends and hired in Jetpatcher machines to help carry out repairs on rural roads more quickly.
Last week’s snow and cold weather makes keeping on top of pothole repairs very challenging, as the 'freeze thaw' conditions causes roads to crack with any loose material washed away by the rain.
You can report potholes near you on our website.

A new draft Minerals Local Plan for Derby and Derbyshire outside the Peak District National Park has been published and we want you to have your say.
Derbyshire is rich in minerals, making the county one of the most important in the country for resources – particularly limestone. Unfortunately mining and quarrying almost always cause some impact on the environment and local communities. The challenge is to find the best balance between these competing interests, so please take part in the consultation, including popping along to one of the drop-in sessions planned.

Volunteers, council workers, farmers and the emergency services pulled together to deal with the extreme weather conditions last week.
Volunteers included mountain rescue, Derbyshire 4x4 Response and snow wardens. District and borough councils worked to keep pavements in town centres clear. The collective efforts were coordinated by our emergency planning team, with highways colleagues coordinating the work of our gritter drivers.
From Wednesday to Saturday midnight, we spread 2,150 tonnes of salt along our gritting routes.
Some parts of the county experienced 40cm of snow in a very short period of time, and many roads and schools were closed.
Council Leader, Councillor Barry Lewis, sent his personal thanks to everyone involved.

Would you like an electric car but don't have a drive on which to charge it?
Well, on-street electric vehicle charging points are set to be installed on lamp posts in Derbyshire.
Up to 500 charge points will be installed and run from the electricity supply to street lights in areas of the county where residents have no off-road parking.
And to help identify where the charge points would be installed, we propose to ask you to come forward to express an interest in having a charge point installed on a lamp post close to your home.
You'll be able to do so from the end of March with further details being made available on our website in the coming weeks.
