COVID-19 is more serious in older people and in people with certain underlying health conditions.
That's why an autumn Covid 19 booster is being offered to those at high risk of the complications of COVID-19 infection, who may have not been boosted for a few months.
The people eligible to receive the booster are:
- People aged 50 years and older,
- residents in care homes for older people
- people aged five years and over in a clinical risk group
- health and social care staff
Appointments will be available from the National Booking Service shortly. Please do not contact your GP or other healthcare providers to book an appointment at this time,

Suicide prevention is everyone's business but it can feel hard to know how to help or what to say.
Below is some advice about how to have a conversation with someone who is in mental distress.
- Listen carefully and without judgement
- Try not to offer opinions or advice
- Do not be afraid to ask 'are you having suicidal thoughts?'
- If they are in crisis then call 999 or encourage them to visit A and E
The Derbyshire Mental Health Helpline on 0800 028 0077 offers 24/7 support and advice

Derbyshire County Council and Leeds Trinity University are holding an event to find out more about people's experiences of addiction and their thoughts about the recovery services currently available in Derbyshire.
The aim of the 'Empowering Recovery in Derbyshire' event is to listen to the experiences of a wide range of people, including those who are in recovery in Derbyshire.
Feedback from the event will be used to shape the future of recovery programmes in the county.
The event will be held on 7th September 2022 at Chesterfield FC Community Trust HUB, Technique Stadium, Chesterfield between 11am and 2.10pm.
Food and refreshments will be provided free of charge.
