If you fancy a great day out in a beautiful setting, make a note in your diary for our annual Woodland Festival on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 September at Elvaston Castle Country Park.
The festival is a celebration of traditional and contemporary woodland crafts but there’s lots more on offer.
Watch expert craftsmen and women at work, from wood carving and turning to willow weaving, bush craft and furniture making.
There’s the chance to have a go at some of these skills yourselves. Plus there’s art, sculpture and a wide range of stalls.
- Viking re-enactment, crafts and combat
- Green Man storytelling and theatre
- Smoking Apples' amazing puppetry with the Arbor Show featuring a giant tree.

If you're out on the roads this month it'll be handy to know where you might come across our road resurfacing work.
You can find out which roads are due to be resurfaced during August on our website.
Our contractors always put up yellow signs on each road that is to be resurfaced, and post letters through all the households that are on those roads about a week before each job starts.
They'll keep the yellow signs up to date if jobs slip because of either very hot or wet weather.
You can also find a list of roads that have already been resurfaced this year on our website.

We're working to improve the health and wellbeing of men across the county and we want to know what you think.
We want men who live or work in Derbyshire to take a few minutes to fill in an online survey about how they feel about health and wellbeing.
It takes between 10 – 15 minutes and you could be in with a chance of winning a £25 voucher for taking part.
