Do you know a Net Zero Hero? There’s still time to send us your nominations.
We’re shining the spotlight on everyday people helping to cut carbon emissions in Derbyshire to make the UK and the wider world a greener place.
Take Darcie Cousins from Hognaston for example. When Darcie was unsuccessful in her search for a local refill shop she took matters into her own hands and set up her own mobile zero waste shop called Refills on the Road.
Read more about Darcie's story and if you know someone who deserves recognition for going one step greener for the planet nominate them here
Derbyshire’s longest serving school crossing patrol Suzanne Wetton will hang up her yellow jacket and "lollipop" for good today after 43 years' service
Over the years the 75-year-old has helped thousands of pupils at Crich's infant and junior schools. Originally from Ripley, Suzanne started the job before her own children were old enough to even go to school.
Read more about Suzanne's story and her memories from her work through the years. We're recruiting school crossing patrols across the county. Could you be one of them?

We’re sending a souvenir book to every school in Derbyshire to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and children at Charlesworth VC Primary School were the first to receive one of them, presented by our Civic Chairman (2021-22) Councillor Jean Wharmby, with Civic Consort and husband George Wharmby.
We’ll also be joining more than 1,500 beacon-lighting ceremonies around the UK and Commonwealth on Thursday 2 June. Our beacon will be lit at Solomon’s Temple at Grin Low in Buxton at 9.45pm. The area directly below the tower won't be accessible due to space and safety reasons, but you will be able to see it from the surrounding country park and from further afield.
Pictured with Civic Chairman (2021-22) Councillor Jean Wharmby and Civic Consort George Wharmby after receiving their souvenir Jubilee book are Charlesworth VC Primary School headteacher Philip Whiston pictured back left with pupils Maida (7), Sienna (8), Sienna (9) and Oliver (8).
