Pick up a Covid test at your local library

We're making it even easier to pick up Covid-19 test kits as we've now made them available in our libraries and mobile library vans.

One in three people with Covid-19 have no symptoms, which means they could be spreading the virus to other, more vulnerable people, without realising it.

Regular testing helps prevent the spread of the virus.

The lateral flow test kits that are now available to pick up in libraries are for people with no symptoms.

You can also get test kits from pharmacies, through home ordering or from one of our mobile testing vans.

Find out where else to pick up test kits, how to take a test and what to do if your test is positive.

If you have Covid-19 symptoms then you'll need to order a PCR test online.

New chapter opens for Woodville library

Derbyshire’s first ever community-managed library is to open its doors this weekend.

Woodville library before its handover as a community-managed library

From this Saturday (21 August) Circularity Association will take over the running of our library in Woodville, near Swadlincote.

The library will be renamed Woodville Community Managed Library and the group has already announced they'll extend opening hours.

Group members will be opening the doors to the library in Hartshorne Road at 10am on Saturday and will then be in charge of the day-to-day running of the library, opening hours, staffing, activities and events.

We'll provide support to the group, including financial support, for the next five years as part of the agreement.

This is a milestone for us and our 'Libraries for Derbyshire' strategy, launched at the beginning of 2019. The strategy included a plan to transfer 20 of our 45 libraries over to community management over the coming years.

Circularity Association was poised to take over Woodville Library in spring 2020 but this was put on hold due to the pandemic.

Do you use our website to find out about our services? If you do, we'd like to invite you to take part in a focus group.

We want to find out more about how people use our website to access services and their experience of finding the information they're looking for.

So we're looking for Derbyshire residents who've visited the council website in the last six months to participate in a focus group so our staff can understand how to improve access to a range of online services.

The focus groups will take place in the first half of September, last about 90 minutes and are at various times so people can choose one to suit them. The sessions will be held online and participants will be sent a link to join the meeting in advance.

You can register your interest here before 31 August 2021.
