Autumn Books

This October - we've revised our library opening hours, it's Fun Palace time once again, Halloween events are leaving us excited for the end of the month, and much more!

Revised Library Opening Hours

Revised Library Opening Hours

We're introducing a new timetable detailing revised opening hours at libraries at the end of this month.

From Monday 30 September 2019, 25 or our libraries will have new opening hours which, although reduced, will ensure they are open when most people regularly use them.

All 25 libraries will have at least one late night opening and will continue to open on Saturdays. Where possible, some will no longer close at lunchtime to make it easier for people to visit when it suits them.

The revised timetable is part of our innovative Libraries for Derbyshire programme agreed last year, which set out our commitment to the library service and outlined a number of proposals to secure its future.

You can view current library opening hours and the new hours from Monday 30 September 2019.

The new timetable will also be publicised in each library.

Recommended Reads

This Month We Recommend You Read...

This is what we think you should request from our online catalogue this month...

In picture books, 'Oi Puppies!' by Kes Gray and Jim Field bring us the last in the popular Oi! series, as Dog needs help from Frog to get a group of naughty puppies to sit still. Now is the perfect time to revisit this amazing series by requesting all the other titles in the run up to this newest release!

For older children we recommend 'The Somerset Tsunami' by Emma Carroll, whose latest historical novel is a story of dangerous secrets, witchcraft, and a devastating natural disaster in 1616.

For adults we recommend 'The Giver of Stars' by JoJo Moyes, which charts the story of five women in 1930s America who spread the power of reading to the poor and the lost. Who doesn't love a story about librarians on horseback?!

Request your copies from our online catalogue here.
