 Be Water Aware
Spending time by the water should be enjoyable – but it can be dangerous. Many accidental drownings are preventable.
If you get into difficulty in water
Float to Live:
- Tilt your head back, submerging your ears
- Relax and control your breathing
- Move your hands and legs to help you stay afloat
- Your legs may sink – that's okay, everyone floats differently
- Practise floating at a supervised location like a swimming pool
If you see someone struggling in water
Phone, Tell, Throw:
- Phone 999 to get help
- Tell them to stay calm and float on their back
- Throw them something that floats until emergency services arrive
Do not enter the water yourself.

Please take a moment to watch the video here, and share it with your club, teammates and community. The more people we reach, the bigger the difference we can make.

Speeding was an issue in Crosby.
We did
We deployed the Speed Indicator Device (SID) for a month in Crosby diligently recording vehicle speeds and encouraging drivers to slow down while passing through the village.
While there were a small number of vehicles recorded driving at excessive speeds, the vast majority were recorded going below the speed limit, with the average speed over 4 weeks recorded at 33mph (Speed limit is 40mph).
Officers will continue to conduct periodic speeding enforcement checks in the area so we encourage all drivers to ensure they are driving within the posted speed limits.

Speed Indicator Device (SID) deployed to Allonby
We are pleased to inform the community that the Speed Indicator Device (SID) is continuing its tour of the Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) area.
In response to multiple concerns raised by residents regarding vehicles not slowing down upon entering the village, SID has made a visit to Allonby.
As we anticipate an increase in activity in Allonby over the coming weeks, particularly with the warm weather and the approach of Bank Holiday weekends, it is imperative to ensure the safety of all residents and visitors.
To address this matter effectively, SID has been strategically positioned near the primary school. This location has been chosen to promote safe driving practices and to protect our children from unnecessary risk as they travel through the area.
We appreciate the cooperation of all motorists in prioritizing safety while travelling in our communities. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
