PACT (Police And Communities Together) survey results - Maryport
We recently conducted a recent survey in relation to the Maryport.
The data has been analysed and the following issues have been reported:
- Drug related activity in Maryport
- Road safety concerns across Maryport town and surrounding areas
Our local officers will continue to address these issues and respond to crime and disorder in your area and encourage the local community to continue to report any incidents. We will be conducting a further survey in 3 months time.
We rely on information from the public to be able to identify and tackle any issues in your local area. Please continue to report any incidents of crime or anti-social behaviour.
You can report online at Report | Cumbria Police
If a crime is in progress always call 999.
You can also phone 101.
Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Off road bikes
This is why we do it - the drone captured footage in Flimby on 9 May of a bike later seized.
Initially the bikes were on private land and not an issue, until they decided to go into the village.
On the wrong side of the road, on footpaths, bikes not equipped for the road, no driving licence, no insurance and clearly no understanding of the roads.
Our last post around off road bikes received over 500 likes from the silent majority who want their towns to be safe places. We will continue to seize these bikes if used illegally, our drones allow us to do this safely.
We got a lot more footage which we are not sharing yet but shows even worse driving.
Mobile phone used whilst driving
It's bad enough to be using your mobile phone while driving.
What could make it worse?
outside a school
during school time (9am)
dragging a trailer
driving a tractor with a trailer
Both these drivers were within minutes of each other while officers were using the speed gun at Netherhall School in Maryport.
Penalties
You can get 6 penalty points and a £200 fine if you hold and use a phone, sat nav, tablet, or any device that can send and receive data while driving or riding a motorcycle.
You’ll also lose your licence if you passed your driving test in the last 2 years.
You can get 3 penalty points if you do not have a full view of the road and traffic ahead or proper control of the vehicle.
You can also be taken to court where you can:

Operation Enhance
Officers have been enhancing the community on foot as part of 'Operation Enhance' on 30 April.
Whilst on patrol in Maryport, a vehicle was highlighted to us by a member of the public as having been abandoned for over a month. Officers approached, conducted necessary checks and discovered the vehicle was registered as SORN. As a result the vehicle was uplifted as it was on a public road with invalid documents
