Below you will find some highlights from the last month.
Operation Enhance continues in our identified hotspot area of Ulverston town centre.
We have a number of police drop ins this month and I would encourage anyone who would like to speak with their local officer to attend.

Beaumont College visit
On 3 February, PCSOs Janine Wade and Paul Harris attended a multiagency engagement event arranged by students at Beaumont College, which caters for young adults with physical and learning disabilities.
The students invited local officers, the Fire Service and St Johns Ambulance to strengthen community ties.

Cold Calling Signs replaced
On 24 February, cold calling signs were replaced at Park Field NNCZ in Swarthmoor.
The zone was set up in conjunction with our partners at Trading Standards and local residents.
The zones empower residents and help deter aggressive, unwanted callers/doorstep sellers within our communities.

Police Drop ins - Booths supermarket (Ulverston) Parish rooms Great Urswick
This month we have carried out extra police drops ins to include Booths supermarket during the half term holidays to give residents the opportunity to raise any concerns they may have.

StreetSafe is a service that allows you to report safety concerns in public places without giving us your name.
This includes issues like poorly lit streets, abandoned buildings, or vandalism, as well as instances where you feel unsafe due to someone following or verbally abusing you.

Crime prevention visit to Lane Ends farm following the theft of a trailer
On 21 February, crime prevention advice was given during a visit to Lane Ends farm following a theft of a trailer there.
Op Lantern signs were erected and farming equipment security was marked with SelectaDNA kit.
Crime enquiries continue by the officer in case regarding the offender who was captured on CCTV.

Joint patrol with our partners from Parking Enforcement
On 26 February , joint patrols were carried out in Swarthmoor and Low Furness following concerns raised by residents regarding parking and access at Pennington school.
Residents, parents and staff were spoken to and all drops offs and parking were considerate and without issue on the day.
We will be seeking further input from Highways Engineers

Speeding Concern - A5089, Roosebeck
On 20 February, this Speed Indicator Device was in place at Roosebeck to collect data, along with speed monitoring tubes installed by our partners at Highways.
A Street Safe questionnaire has also been distributed to residents to flag up any community concerns they may have.
The data and responses will be analysed and appropriate action taken.

Which route is right for you?
⚪ Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship
Did you know you can join Cumbria Constabulary as a degree apprentice and work towards a degree whilst serving as a student officer with active frontline duties?

⚪Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP)
This is a two year programme which gives a blend of practical on-the-job experience and classroom-based learning.
Once you leave training school, you will then go onto to your allocated station then eventually go onto independent patrols and will be assessed for the remainder of the two-year programme.

⚪Professional Policing Degree Graduate (PPD)
To be eligible to apply, you will need to have taken a three-year BSc professional policing programme offered by universities that are licensed and validated to deliver the degree by the College of Policing.

Our Detective entry programme (PCEP DC) is open for applications.
The two year programme is designed to equip you with all the skills and training necessary to ensure that on completion you will be a highly competent detective constable.

Independent Advisory Group (IAG) Cumbria Police
Cumbria Constabulary are now recruiting for Independent Advisory Group (IAG) members from all communities that live and work within Cumbria. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute towards improving policing and wider service delivery throughout Cumbria.
This is a voluntary role and we welcome applications from all members of communities within Cumbria to contribute to providing, constructive and impartial advice that will enhance our service delivery.

Safety improvements made to Junction 37 of M6 via Cumbria Road Safety Partnership
The following is a release on behalf of Cumbria Road Safety Partnership
The work of a collaboration of agencies which form part of Cumbria’s Road Safety Partnership has resulted in a number of preventative measures being put in place at a high-harm location identified on the road network.
In May 2024, stakeholders within the Cumbria Road Safety Partnership identified Junction 37 of the M6 as a high-harm location through the utilisation of Cumbria Road Harm Index.

Operation Enhance: Anti-social behaviour reduced as people urged to give feedback on operation
Chief Superintendent Andy Wilkinson said: "The high-visibility hotspot patrols continue to coincide with significant reductions in anti-social behaviour across almost all of the 18 areas.
“Tackling anti-social behaviour and serious violence are top priorities for the Constabulary and will remain top priorities going forward.
"As we approach the end-point for the funding for the operation, we will be looking at the legacy of Operation Enhance and what we can do to ensure the gains which have been made since Summer 2024 are built upon."
As part of Operation Enhance, officers conduct high-visibility patrols aimed at deterring anti-social behaviour and serious violence before incidents occur.
