Dating & Romance scams
Red Flags when dating online:
- Excessive messages and sudden declarations of love
- Know who you are speaking to, do not be conned by photos / fake accounts
- Do not over share details
- Never send money, vouchers or any kind of payment to help with a “family crisis, tickets, insurance or medical bills”
- Do not be coerced into sending intimate photos which can be used as part of a blackmail scam
If you have been a victim of a scam and lost money, seek support from a trusted family member and report to Action Fraud on : 0300 123 2040 or by visiting : www.actionfraud.police.uk
You should also contact your bank.
If you have been a victim of blackmail this should be reported to Cumbria Police via 101.

Road safety signs
As part of increasing awareness of the vulnerabilities of horse riders on our highways, 'wide & slow' signage has been displayed in identified locations around the Low Furness area.
Be particularly careful of horse riders and horse-drawn vehicles especially when approaching, overtaking, passing or moving away.
Always pass wide and slowly.
When you see a horse on a road, you should slow down to a maximum of 10 mph. Be patient, do not sound your horn or rev your engine.
When safe to do so, pass wide and slow, allowing at least 2 metres of space.
