In this month's newsletter you will see our officers have been responding to various concerns reported to us in relation to anti-social behaviour in the area.

Anti-social behaviour reports - Swarthmoor Football Club
In May, we received reports of minor anti social behaviour at Swarthmoor Football Club, which included igniting an aerosol and causing a small fire, littering and drinking alcohol.
Crime prevention advice was given and reassurance patrols were carried out. PCSO Helen Madden spoke to local residents and neighbours of the club.
Local children were advised accordingly regarding the dangers of igniting aerosols.
Regular patrols continue.

Estate walkarounds
With partners from South lakes Housing , we carried out estate walkarounds in May, talking to residents about any concerns they had.
The areas included were:
- The Honey pot
- Croftlands
- Swarthmoor
- Great Urswick
This was to promote our partnership working and to listen to the concerns of residents.

StreetSafe is a service that allows you to report safety concerns in public places without giving us your name.
This includes issues like poorly lit streets, abandoned buildings, or vandalism, as well as instances where you feel unsafe due to someone following or verbally abusing you.

Fly Tipping on Birkrigg Common
Whilst checking Birkrigg for a report of campers, a quantity of fly tipping was located.
Details were passed onto to our partners at Westmorland & Furness Council to arrange collection and for further enquiries.

Moped riders
Over the last month there have been several reports of moped riders on L plates carrying pillion passengers who are not wearing helmets. Local CCTV footage provided by a concerned resident providing registration number.
Intel has been submitted for further enquiries and follow up.
|
Speed Indicator Device installed
On 19 May, after months of obstruction, Ulverston's Speed Indication Device has been placed in Leece at request of the local residents.
The data will be collated next month and made available via the Parish Council.

Cumbria Constabulary are now recruiting for Independent Advisory Group (IAG) members from all communities that live and work within Cumbria. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute towards improving policing and wider service delivery throughout Cumbria.

Op Sceptre: Officers speak to children across the county about knife dangers
Officers visited schools and educated businesses as part of Cumbria’s involvement in the most recent Operation Sceptre.
Operation Sceptre, is a national campaign which takes place twice a year, supporting the work the police carry out all year round to ensure residents are safe from knife crime in their community.
As part of the operation, officers went into schools to speak directly with pupils about the dangers of carrying knives and the potential consequences.

Police urge people to step up security this spring and summer - to stop burglars targeting home
Police in Cumbria are urging residents to close any window of opportunity to burglars - by being security conscious this spring and summer.
Criminals can sometimes exploit warmer weather by looking for open windows to reach into or trying unlocked doors, knowing people may be relaxing or working in the garden.
Officers are keen for people to follow simple tips to stop thieves in their tracks and make sure everyone enjoys the next few months with the peace of mind their property is safe.
