A man from Cleator Moor was jailed for drug supply on 10 May.
Simon Gilmour, 47, of Birks Road, Cleator Moor was sentenced to six years for possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A – Cocaine
On 13 December last year, officers attended Gilmour’s home address to conduct a misuse of drugs act warrant issued by magistrate’s court.
Gilmour was detained alongside a woman in the property, officer suspected that Gilmour had hidden something in his mouth and during a struggle with officers a large wrap of white powder was found in which he had attempted to swallow.
Further searches of the property were conducted were officers located a small quantity of blue tablets in a snap bag and a snap bag containing a white tablet.
Also recovered is a mobile phone, a number of items of drug packaging, a set of digital scales and a bank card in another females name.
During the warrant Gilmour made multiple comments including "THEY ARE MINE" when the tablets were located by officers.
Detective Constable Simon Quinn from Cumberland CID who investigated the case said “Gilmour was supplying drugs within the local community taking advantage of vulnerable individuals for his own gain.
“We continue to target organised criminality in Cumbria and will pursue those involved at every level.
“I would encourage the public to please report any information that they have on drug supply activity.

Joint patrols Wasdale Valley
We conducted patrols alongside the Lake District National Park Rangers on the weekend of 25 and 26 May at Wasdale Valley.
Everybody is entitled to enjoy our beautiful fells and lakes; but please remember to park with consideration. There are areas of the Wasdale Valley are marked as a 'Clearway'; please refrain from parking your vehicle within this zone. Outside of the clearway, please ensure your vehicle is not causing an obstruction - committing either of these offences could see you finish your day with a £30 fine.
No issues were identified on Saturday.
However vehicles were ticketed on Sunday for two vehicles blocking a gate.
Whilst this may seem insignificant to some, blocking a gateway can severely impact local agriculture. Agriculture is a HUGE part of our county, to enjoy these spaces, respect and consideration must be given to our farmers. Your day in the fells is for recreation; their day is for their livelihood.
We have been made aware that Wasdale provide a FREE shuttle bus service collecting passengers from Ravenglass, Muncaster Castle, Gosforth and Nether Wasdale. We would ask any visitors to the area to utilise this service in order to reduce congestion in the area. Leaflets for this service can be found at Whitehaven Police Station NPT office, alternatively a digital version can be found at https://www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/.../wasdale-shuttlebus
We would ask that all visitors to the area be considerate and do their part to prevent the road to Wasdale Head becoming blocked.
Remember, if an Ambulance, Police Car or Fire Engine can't get passed you're causing an obstruction!
