CARLISLE CITY WEST
Our community survey is proving a popular way to let us know of ongoing neighbourhood issues. This is advertised on our Carlisle Facebook Page.
Belle Vue, Yewdale and Sandsfield Park
We asked the residents of Belle Vue, Yewdale and Sandsfield Park to tell us what their priorities were.
The communities responded by telling us there are problems with parking and speeding on main roads and near schools.
Over the next month we will be targeting all vehicles in these areas who use their vehicles in an illegal or antisocial manner.
We ask all residents to be considerate when driving and parking or risk a fine or prosecution.
We will aim to update you with our response next month.
Denton Holme, Long Sowerby and Caldewgate
We are currently surveying residents of Denton Holme, Long Sowerby and Caldewgate.
We will analyse what the residents tell us and, as above, aim to update you with our findings soon.
Raffles, Castle & Morton
We will also be contacting the residents of Raffles, the Castle area and Morton next month.
This will be followed by surveying our city west rural residents - so look out for our community surveys on Facebook.
Carlisle City West- Traffic Problems
We have analysed the data from the recent Community Survey you took part in during September.
The overwhelming concerns on these estates are traffic problems.
We will now be addressing the parking and speeding issues about these estates in the coming weeks.
If you are parking on pavements preventing passage, if you are parking on school zig-zags during school opening and closing times, if you are parking near or within a road junction and you are recorded or seen - you are likely to be given a warning or penalty. #PleaseDriveResponsibly.

CARLISLE NORTH AND RURAL
Carlisle North and Rural- Operation Rogue Trader
Earlier this month, PC Sam Butler and PC Julie Dodd assisted Trading Standards with North West National Rogue Trader Day.
This was aimed at tackling rogue practices and raising awareness of the dangers linked to engaging with cold-callers who knock on doors.
Officers were on patrol in Carlisle where rogue traders have previously targeted vulnerable residents - talking to local businesses, carrying out checks on vehicles and confirming that any accreditation claims were genuine.
A large number of businesses were approached and advised about general selling practices and the law.
Cumbrian Trading Standards also took this opportunity to reinforce previous messages to communities to use extreme caution when approached by cold callers offering to carry out house repairs or gardening work.
It is vital to warn people about the consequences of dealing with rogue doorstep traders.
These types of callers often use persuasive tactics to get people to agree to having work carried out that is often not needed or worthless and then charge exorbitant amounts of money.
The message from Cumbria Trading Standards is to say no to cold callers, use known, local trades people and discuss home improvements with your family.
If you suspect someone of being a rogue trader, contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 0808 223 1133.

Carlisle North and Rural - Houghton Rainbows Unit
PCSOs Dane Herd and Rochelle Jackson have made a visit to the 1st Houghton Rainbows unit.
As well as getting to try on some uniform and sit in the police van, the girls were very interested to hear about all the work that the officers do to keep the community safe.
There were some interesting questions including: ‘Do you have police cats?’.
The Rainbow leaders have passed on their thanks to both Dane and Rochelle.
