Goodbyes
Sadly we have had to say goodbye to another member of our community team. Jeremy has gone to put his feet up and enjoy his retirement after he has walked mile upon mile on the streets of Kendal.

Anti-Social Behaviour week
It was Anti-Social Behaviour week between 19th-25rd July.
However, it's important to point out that our PCSOs tackle anti-social behaviour issues in the community on a regular basis, all year round. This can be anything from, graffiti, drinking, smoking, gathering in large noisy groups, riding off road motor bikes around parks and estates and leaving litter.
Whilst on foot patrol, PCSOs have met groups of young people who are simply just meeting with friends and enjoying the warm weather and the beautiful place we live.
The majority of the groups we meet are polite respectful young people. However if you are being affected by any anti social behaviour, it is important you let us know.

Kendal Town Centre
Kendal town centre has been busy during the Euro 2020 football tournament.
Most licenced premises have coped well with the extra influx of fans supporting England all the way to the final.
However, in the past few weeks there have been three incidents of serious assaults in Kendal on Sandes Avenue, Finkle Street and Highgate.
Arrests were made with regards all three of these incidents and alleged offenders charged with multiple offences.
We will continue to focus on the issues important to you in the coming weeks, whilst also preparing and responding to those people travelling through South Lakes ahead of Appleby Horse Fair on 12th August.

Appleby Horse Fair
With Appleby Horse Fair approaching, verge patrols are underway with patrols on foot and patrols in vehicles from 19th July -22 August, in the areas of Kirkby Lonsdale, Sedbergh and surrounding areas.
There are police drop-ins at Kirkby Lonsdale Fire Station Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays and at Sedbergh Police office Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdays between 12pm and 2pm.
These drop-in dates are here for you to voice any issues or concerns regarding community issues over the Appleby Horse Fair period.

Kirkby Lonsdale
The recent great weather also brought with it a great many instances of illegally and inconsiderately parked cars.
We have had a number of calls about vehicles completely blocking pedestrian access to paths, leaving countless members of the public walking into the road.
We would like to remind road users that the police issue tickets if a vehicle is obstructing the highway or posing a danger to others.
This includes parking inconsiderately or on the pavement.
If it is deemed that you are causing an obstruction or a danger to other road users including pedestrians this will result in a ticket/fine. It is also an offence to park opposite to solid white lines which are seen in the middle of a carriage way. These rules are here to save lives and not just to annoy you. Please can we all be considerate where we park on our days out.
Thank you

Kirkby Lonsdale
Shockingly, on one of the hottest days of the year, PCSOs in the area had to put out an unattended fire, complete with cooking tripod.
The fire was still alight and littered with beer bottles and cans on a verge next to very dry grass.
Please can we ask that you do not light any fires and or use disposable BBQs. We all have a responsibility to look after our environment and protect the area we live in.

Arnside
Unfortunately we have had some recent reports of some anti-social behaviour on Arnside beach.
One group of young people have been spoken to regarding noise, littering and careless acts. But on the whole, the young people that we have met have been polite, courteous and have enjoyed a quiet evening on the beach.
|
Storth
We have residents in Storth extremely concerned about the speed of traffic on Cockshot Lane.
We would like to remind motorist that the speed along this road turns to a 20mph from a 60mph.
Pedestrians and cyclist use this road without the security of a pavement. The local PCSO is working with the council to consider better signage and will also be bringing the speed gun to the area in the near future.

Hallgarth and Child Centred policing
Mark has recently joined along with PCSO Mandy Coleman, the child -centred policing team.
Working along side PC Gillian Jackson, the team work together in trying to guide youngsters to make better decisions when it comes to their actions.
Mark is now also the PCSO for the Hallgarth estate.

Sandylands
Unfortunately, there are still residents reporting to us about the anti-social behaviour being caused by motorcycles in the area of Broad Ing.
We would like to remind parents that any motorcycle that is not taxed or insured whether being pushed or rode on a road or path, is risking having the bike uplifted and crushed. These type of bikes were made for off-road use only.

Kendal Youth Zone
Kendal Youth Zone is now up and running with its first session having been held on 17th July on Sandylands MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area).
|
Kirkbarrow/Vicarage Drive
Vicarage Drive have recently had issues with cars parked inconsiderately across driveways and parking in dangerous positions has also been reported around the Vicarage Park School area.
We all have a responsibility in keeping each other safe particularly children.
Parking on pavements, zig-zag lines and yellow lines pose a risk to young children especially. These obstructions reduce visibility for safe crossing of the road. We ask that you please put some thought into parking your vehicle safely.
