‘Stay safe’ message as new COVID-19 cases remain low in county
Cumbria continued to have a low number of COVID-19 infections in week ending 16 April with just 75 new cases.
Cumbria’s overall infection rate of 15/100,000 put the county below both regional and national averages.

Data to 15 April showed 279, 200 people had received their first covid vaccine dose, 67% of the eligible population.

Unmasking Stalking - National Stalking Awareness week 2021
Cumbria police are supporting National Stalking Awareness week (19th – 25th April). The week, initiated by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, provides a focused annual platform to raise awareness of stalking, reporting and the support services available to victims.
This year, the awareness week is focused on: Unmasking Stalking.
In 2020, in Cumbria, there were 506 reported crimes of stalking. National developments in crime recording now allow for every incident of stalking to be recorded as an individual crime, meaning an incident of stalking could involve several crimes. Of the 506 reported crimes, 74% of these were domestic related.
Operation Sceptre
Operation Sceptre will begin this Monday (April 26th), this is a national week of action all police forces will be taking part in aiming to prevent and educate alongside our partner agencies.
Members of the public will be able to dispose of any type of knife or bladed article safely and anonymously at nominated stations.
Anyone wishing to bring knives or weapons for destruction should consider how they are transported to police stations. Please bring them wrapped up or boxed so that they remain safe while being carried.
