Learning from both local and national reviews play a vital role in strengthening safeguarding practices for children and young people.
These reviews help identify what is working well and what needs improvement, along with showcasing examples of good practice and lessons learned. By sharing findings and recommendations, agencies can collaborate, learn from each other, and implement meaningful change.
More information about Local Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews (LCSPR) can be found in Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023.
A Local Learning Review (LLR) is undertaken when a child or children have suffered abuse or harm, but the circumstances do not meet the full criteria for a Rapid Review or Local Child Safeguarding Practice Review.
However, the three safeguarding partners believe there is learning about the way in which local professionals/agencies work together to safeguard children, that could strengthen safeguarding practice locally and improve multi-agency working, to better safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
Cumberland Safeguarding Children Partnership have undertaken an LLR on two children, which involved a baby of 4 months and a two-year-old who had unexplained bruising. You can access a summary briefing of the review here, which gives further insight into the learning from the review.
