ELSA Evaluation Survey
Thank you to all the schools that completed the short ELSA Evaluation survey 2024/25.
86% of schools with a WELL-funded ELSA responded to the survey, we are pleased to report that:
100% of respondents agreed with the following two statements:
- Having an ELSA in school has helped to improve internal capacity to support learning readiness of the children in school.
- I feel confident that the WELL Project prioritises ELSAs in the region and is committed to sustaining provision.
WELL is funding another 25 Teaching Assistants to undertake ELSA training from the start of October.

Sentenced to Success: Primary Cluster Writing Programme Launch
Thank you to all the participating schools that joined us at last week's Sentenced to Success launch.
As we were oversubscribed for this training and we do not want any schools to feel that they are missing out on this fantastic programme, Stella and the Town End Research School team will kindly provide us with video recordings of the online sessions to share with all WELL schools.
We will make all recordings available once we receive them and share in future WOWs.

Implementing WELL Workshop 2
By 29th/30th Sep 25 – Prepare for Workshop 2:
The Implementing WELL: Workshop 2 will take place next week on 29th/30th September, and will focus on ‘exploring what to implement’.
This is relevant both to schools continuing with their existing implementation plans and to those wishing to implement something new.
Please bring along your completed Implementation Climate Health Check and provide an outline of a single meaningful problem to focus on, aimed at improving English and/or Maths pupil outcomes and linked to your Pupil Premium strategy. We will be sharpening our understanding of the ‘problem' during and after the workshop.
Please ensure that a consistent member of your SLT is able to attend all six workshops (participation is a condition of grant funding). Workshops can be booked via SLA Online or by contacting the School Development Team directly.
If your school is unable to attend, please contact the WELL team in advance and we’ll work with you to find an alternative way to engage.

WELL Element Leads 'Assemble'
On 12th September, WELL, ERA and all WELL Element Leads gathered to align on the Implementing WELL project.
Together, we explored how we can collaborate most effectively to support our schools in implementing and delivering each WELL element, ensuring consistency with the project’s objectives.
Attendees included: Marc Rowland, Louise Quinn, Jonathan Sharples, Jon Eaton, Sally Franklin, Sue Frost, Patty Williams, Andy Taylor, Stuart Kime.
To maintain this collaborative approach, WELL will facilitate regular meetings for all Element Leads throughout the year.

Message from the ERA team:
Just a quick hello from us this time and to say we are looking forward to seeing you all at the Implementing WELL sessions next week.
We are so pleased to be working with Jonathan and Jon and the other leads this year to get the best support for you and your colleagues.
|
If you have any queries about how Patty and I can support you with Implementation plans, using evidence and research or staff professional development then please just let us know.
Thanks
Sue & Patty
