Flimby Primary School: Garden Opening and Cumbrian Award
On 20th May, Dale and the Cumbrian Award team were welcomed to Flimby Primary School's official garden opening, where Northern Rail proudly cut the ribbon on this wonderful new space. The way that the Headteacher and school team celebrate community and promote a strong sense of belonging is inspirational.
|
The pupils led the way in showing visitors around the garden, explaining all the different areas and exactly how the experience, undertaken as part of Cumbrian Award, had added to their learning, as well as performing songs and poetry as the sun shone down.
It was wonderful to hear how the Cumbrian Award was a connector and catalyst for many Adventurous, Cultural and Enterprising learning activities that were having a real impact on local Cumbrian communities. WELL and the Cumbrian Award team say a huge "well done" to Flimby Primary School and are looking forward to discovering the many exciting and worthwhile Cumbrian Award experiences that are planned for the future!
Join the Cumbrian Award!
Over a third of WELL Schools are now engaged in Cumbrian Award. If you would like your school to get involved in the award, please email Cumbrian.Award@cumberland.gov.uk and we will support you to make this a reality!

Implementing WELL: Leading the way on Evidence Informed Implementation
Upcoming Launch Event!
It is a real celebration that we now have 108 WELL schools that have committed to participate in the 'Implementing WELL: Leading the way on evidence-informed implementation' programme next academic year.
Please see the Universal/Targeted section of this WOW, to ensure you have secured your places on the upcoming 'launch event' with Jonathan Sharples and Jon Eaton on Wednesday 18th (AM/PM) or Thursday 19th June (AM).
Our recommendation is that: Headteachers, together with Implementation Leads/team colleagues attend one of the sessions. It is important that at least one of those attending have agency to lead further further development of implementation processes within the school.
