On the build-up to the Easter bank holiday, we are reminding residents how to access our services.

Easter Fair
Just a reminder, The Easter Fair - presented by The Showmen’s Guild of Great Britain - is currently taking place in Carlisle in Castle Car Park. This means there will be some temporary reduced parking capacity in the car park until the end of Sunday 20 April.
We'd like to remind fairgoers choosing to park in the remaining spaces in Castle Car Park to only park in designated bays and that the usual pay and display charges will apply.

Also in this week's edition:
A huge THANK YOU to Cash for Kids Cumbria & South West Scotland and the kind-hearted donor who gifted 142 Easter Eggs to our Children & Family Wellbeing Teams.
A special thanks also goes to Sara Oldham, Chief Executive of Cash for Kids, who reached out to offer a total of 142 Easter Eggs to support children and young people across our services. Some of these sweet treats made their way to Morton Family Hub, while others are ready to be shared during the Wigton Family Hub Day. The rest are being distributed by our teams directly to the children and young people they work with.
The arrival of the Easter Eggs brought a real buzz to the office — smiles, laughter, and excitement filled the space as staff eagerly collected the eggs to deliver to the families they support.
Staff shared that, in all their years working in the team, this was one of the most meaningful and joyful donations they’ve ever received.
Thank you again to Cash for Kids and the kind-hearted donor for making this Easter so special.

On Monday 7 April, we took part in a major milestone with a successful sod cutting ceremony at The Old Bank - the second project to kick off as part of the Millom Town Deal.
We were joined by Michelle Scrogham, MP for Barrow and Furness, alongside members of the Millom Town Deal Board and representatives from Sellafield, Story Contracting and Day Cummins. All showing their support for this exciting new chapter.
We caught up with Town deal Board members, supporters and funders to reflect on the progress so far and look ahead to what’s next for the Millom Town Deal. Big things are happening - and this is just the beginning!
Thanks to Stuart Walker for the photos and video.
Taste Cumbria is back in Wigton on Saturday 26 April for another festival of free fabulous food, drink, live music and family fun.
It'll be held between 10am and 5pm.
The Producers’ Market, hot food court, music stage, climbing wall and children’s rides will be located in Water Street car park, while the neighbouring Market Hall will host loads of family entertainment. For the first time, there will be a silent disco which everyone can try, alongside crazy magic and more from Liam Moorhouse, and arts and drafts with NADT Youth.
Those attending the festival by car can park for free at the Nelson Thomlinson Secondary School’s sports hall, and, if you want to make a night of it, you could also book tickets for The Dumb Waiter, a play by Harold Pinter, which is being staged at Wigton’s John Peel Theatre that evening.
The Taste Cumbria food festivals are organised by Cumberland Council.
Wigton residents - your Town Team will be at the Taste Wigton Festival later to chat about the potential £3m investment in the town. Take a look at the proposals and find out more about the Town Team and Borderlands funding.
Taste Cumbria Wigton will be followed by the Taste of the Sea festival in Maryport on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 August, before the flagship Taste Cumbria festival in Cockermouth on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September then the second Taste Cumbria Carlisle event on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November. Taste Cumbria Christmas on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December, also in Cockermouth, will end the year.
Trader pitches are now available for the Producers’ Markets. Visit www.tastecumbria.co.uk and follow the link to the application forms. Priority is given to Cumbrian producers, but the organisers welcome enquiries from other areas.

Our cherished black-and-white heritage fingerposts are being beautifully restored across Cumberland!
These early 20th-century signposts aren’t just wayfinders - they're living pieces of local history and rural charm.
Restoring these signs honours our past and supports the unique identity of our communities. Thanks to the team’s hard work, we're keeping our history alive!
More than 50 fingerposts across 21 parishes have already been brought back to life - part of our promise to protect Cumberland’s character for generations to come.
Spotted a fingerpost that needs some TLC? Let us know here:
A reminder to residents living in the South ward of the Egremont Town Council area that an election for one seat will take place next Thursday (24 April).
