Take part in some family-friendly events this February half-term

All schoolchildren aged up to 16 years old from the Cumberland area will be able to go for a swim in a choice of five indoor pools for only 10p over the February half term school holidays.
The discounted scheme will be available between Saturday 15 and Sunday 23 February and has been put in place by Cumberland Council, with the support of GLL and Wigton Baths Trust.
The council scheme will offer discounted swimming opportunities throughout the week and some locations will also offer free sessions on a weekend.
It will be available at the following leisure sites at allocated times during the school holidays:

Cockermouth Leisure Centre: 1pm - 1.50pm, Monday to Friday.

Copeland Pool and Fitness Centre (Whitehaven): 1pm - 1.50pm, Monday 17 February, Tuesday 18 February, Thursday 20 February and Friday 21 February. 9am - 9.50am on Sunday 16 and Sunday 23 February.
- The Sands Centre (Carlisle): 10am - 10.50am, Monday to Friday.

Wigton Baths: Monday 17 February, 3pm - 4pm, Tuesday 18 February, 3.15pm - 4.15pm, Wednesday 19 February, 3pm - 4pm, Thursday 20 February, 10am - 11am, Friday 21 February, 10am – 11am and Saturday 22 February, 10am - 11.30am.

The swimming initiative is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Get ready for a week of family fun at The Beacon Museum in Whitehaven this half-term! From incredible exhibitions to hands-on activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Visitors can explore 'Inspired by Industry', the museum’s main exhibition, which celebrates West Cumbria’s rich industrial heritage through stunning artwork plus there’s some exciting science pop-ups taking place Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm on the 4th floor - from hands-on experiments to mind-blowing demonstrations, experts will be bringing science to life throughout the week. These experiments are included in museum admission.
The brand new "Tides of Innovation" exhibition also opens on Saturday 15 February, a fascinating exhibition curated by volunteer Mike James, showcasing West Cumbria’s global impact. From the export of Langdale axes to modern advancements, visitors can take an eclectic journey through time and discovery.
The fun continues with a lineup of engaging events. On Tuesday 18 February, experience the magic of bubbles like never before at the Bubble Magic Workshop, where kids can step inside a giant bubble and learn balloon modeling tricks. On Wednesday 19 February, the Monkey Madness Show brings a whirlwind of magic, dancing, and games to keep little ones entertained and on Thursday 20 February, animal lovers can get up close with adorable and fascinating creatures at our Pet Encounter Experience.

This February half-term, Tullie House is packed with fun for all ages! Kick things off with a free museum weekend on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 February (10am - 4pm) - entry to the museum is totally free, just come along and enjoy! Explore stunning exhibitions like Sheila Fell: Cumberland on Canvas, The Roman Frontier Gallery, and their beloved Costume Collection.
Families can also enjoy daily creative crafts and embark on the 'Tullie Mouse Lost in Time' trail, helping their mischievous mouse fix his malfunctioning time machine while encountering surprise visitors from the past!
Tullie House will also a series of entertaining and interactive performances, featuring fascinating science demonstrations, a lively blend of magic and comedy, mesmerising bubble artistry, and an imaginative theatrical production exploring themes of adventure and the environment.
With so much to see and do, Tullie House promises a half-term filled with fun, creativity, and discovery.

Join Dommy B for 'Make Some Noise' at Millom Library on Saturday 15 February at 9.30am.
'Make Some Noise’ Dommy B shares a surprising story about growing up, finding a brilliant (but naughty) imaginary friend, becoming ‘Junk the Punk’ and joining a great school band (Whizzkid and the Veggie Burgers)! There’ll be rhymes, jokes, and lots of opportunity to make some noise in a celebration of the power of sound and friendship.

Join us for a free Family Fun Day this half-term to celebrate the official launch of Hub2U – The Family Hub on Wheels, an innovative new mobile service bringing essential family support, activities, and advice directly to communities.
The event will take place at the Family Hub on the Harbour, Whitehaven, on Tuesday 18 February 2025, from 1pm to 4pm. Aimed at all ages – from little ones to teens, families can enjoy free activities, snacks and drinks, and much more.
