The Oliver McGowan mandatory training on Learning Disability and Autism is named after Oliver McGowan, whose tragic, avoidable death shone a light on the need for health and social care staff to receive better training.

Oliver’s Training is the government’s preferred and recommended programme. Those working in the North East and North Cumbria can now access Tier 1 of this training, which consists of an eLearning course, plus a 1-hour interactive online session. The session is delivered by a trio of trainers, one a subject matter expert alongside two experts with lived experience.
