Message from Dale:
“Motivation is what gets you started. Commitment is what keeps you going.”
- Jim Rohn
When we decided to apply to extend WELL into a third phase, we did briefly consider whether the appetite for engagement (which has been brilliant), after four years, would still be there. And then 117/118 Headteachers read, sign and submit a participation commitment. And 115/118 schools attend our implementation workshops, delivered in the first half term of a new school year, when so many other priorities exist. Now that is what I call commitment.
Let's continue to unite around education, around social justice, around the pupils and around those adults who work tirelessly to make a difference to them. This is and will continue to be WELL's only agenda, and we will do our very best to return your commitment.
Thank you for being our motivator.
Dale
Thank you to those schools that have already submitted an Implementation plan for 2024 - 25.
Dale will provide feedback intended to support you and WELL's ambition to achieve an increasingly sophisticated approach.

We hope you found the 'EEF’s New School’s Guide to Implementation' sessions with Professor Jonathan Sharples helpful.
An email including a video link to a recorded Jonathan Sharples Implementation Guidance session will be sent to all delegates that attended this required workshop directly.
Please share this video with all members of your implementation teams.
Based on the quality assurance of plans received to date and from the learning from the workshops, we offer few prompts to consider prior to submitting your plans for 2024 - 25:
|

A quick reminder that the deadline to submit an Implementation plan for quality assurance to this online form is Friday 15th November 2024.
A blank Implementation plan template can be found on the WELL Website here. An example of an exemplar completed implementation plan can be found on page 35 of the EEF's 'A School's Guide to Implementation'.
When uploading your WELL Implementation Plan for 2024-25 to the online form, you will also need to upload your Signed Grant Agreement to submit both of these documents to the WELL Team.
You can upload your Signed Grant Agreement first, then "Save" progress and "Return" to upload your Implementation Plan at a later date, if required. If you require further support uploading your documentation, please email WELL@Cumberland.gov.uk.

The latest from Education Research Alliance:
|
|
 |
Having an Educational Research Alliance (ERA) in West Cumbria is enabling WELL to bring the best evidence informed national expertise in the country to the region. Our independent evaluator has also confirmed that there is local expertise that WELL should be identifying and utilising more in the next phase. We are exploring this to build sustainable capacity.
Through the WOW, they will be sharing some of the latest resources and opportunities available to our schools, linked to our locally identified priorities.
In this week's WOW, Kate Horton, EEF Regional Delivery Lead (North), Marc Rowland, Unity Research School Disadvantage Lead and Stella Jones, Director of Town End Research School share some helpful publications and PD opportunities:
Marc Rowland - Transforming Attendance in Cornwall Case Study
The recent report 'Transforming Attendance in Cornwall' looks at attendance in the rural and coastal area of Cornwall and has been developed in partnership with Cornish school leaders.
As a group, the leaders explored research, evidence and good practice and refined approaches to addressing attendance challenges for Primary, Secondary and Special schools.
Please find a link to the full report here and the project's YouTube Channel which include bitesize videos of the project here.
