National Safeguarding Adults Week Day 1 - What's my role in safeguarding adults?
Day one of National Safeguarding Adults Week 2023 will focus on encouraging individuals and organisations from a diverse range of sectors to come together and consider ‘what’s my role in safeguarding adults?’
Safeguarding is the responsibility of all staff, volunteers and individuals within an organisation and the wider community. Today we will be sharing resources to raise awareness of what safeguarding is and how it applies to everyone.

"What is Safeguarding" lunch and learn session
We recognise that some small businesses and organisation’s may be the eyes and ears in our local communities but in some cases may not always have access to training in respect of safeguarding.
You are invited to join a short ‘lunch and learn’ session tomorrow via MS Teams 1-2pm. The session will explore;

Safeguarding refers to measures designed to protect the health, wellbeing and human rights of individuals. These measures allow children, young people and adults at risk to live free from abuse, harm and neglect.

Individuals and organisations are responsible for working together to protect an adult’s right to live free from abuse & neglect.
Never assume safeguarding is someone else’s responsibility.
Are you delivering sport and physical activity to adults?
It is good practice for sport and activity organisations to create, adopt and implement an adult safeguarding policy. The Ann Craft Trust have worked with Club Mattersto provide an introduction to safeguarding adults.
It is important that committee members, leaders, coaches, members and participants understand the foundations of implementing the policy and how to spot and act upon concerns.
The video discusses the key principles of safeguarding adults, including empowerment, accountability and protection and provides top tips for dealing with a safeguarding issue and links to wider advice and information.
