If you have not signed up, please do so by Friday 26th May.
To get the most out of the session, at least two members of your implementation teams should endeavour to attend.
This term, the sessions will provide an opportunity to explore how effective implementation for school improvement is being developed by participating schools, to question and share ideas. There will also be an opportunity to consider how your professional development strategy will support effective implementation next year. Please bring a copy of your current working implementation plan.
Implementation Team members - If you are yet to sign up to a June workshop, please do so with SDT before half term.

We are very excited about this ground-breaking work with FFT, WELL and you.
The launch of this project takes place on 21st June, from 9am until 3.00pm at Energus Conference Centre, Lillyhall, Workington
WELL will cover the costs of FFT support, the events and the venues. When we have calculated costs for your school to participate, we will provide you with a grant agreement and grant to take part in this WELL element.
The required commitment is for at least 2, ideally 3 subject specialist teachers from any subject discipline to accompany the English specialist teacher on the 21st June.
The session on the 21st will focus on:
- Input on the range of reading needs and readers’ characteristics – and implications for teaching
- Recap and overview of reciprocal reading
- Focus on the key strategies and how to reinforce in a subject context
- Whole class reciprocal reading
- Planning for subject based reciprocal reading
- Overview of the project, including timeline
- ‘Having a go’
- Planning next steps
- Assessment Tools to baseline and track the progress of participating students
To confirm attendee numbers, names, and subjects please complete this form by 9th June.
|
In advance of the 21st June please could your chosen subject department scan one or two texts that they might use with Y7 or Y8 students in their everyday lessons.
Please send these to Andy Taylor as soon as possible, indicating which subject it is.
Copies of these texts will need to be brought to the session on the 21st.
It was brilliant to have over 20 people attending the Action Research session on Monday 22nd May.
The video and slides from the session can be found here.
Please also find here two very practical resources to support your work. This includes Blob Trees and Teaching and Leadership enquiry tools and an interactive Action Research Handbook.
Reminder
The final Action Research session of this academic year, will be face to face, running twice on the 27th June 9-12pm or 1-4pm at Whitehaven Golf Club. This can be coordinated with attendance at a Universal (1-3pm) or Targeted (9-11am) Grant Offer workshop. We can offer lunch to anyone attending both the Action Research and an Implementation workshop on the 27th June.
Action Research Leads – We require you to sign up to the face to face Action Research workshop on the 27th June.
